Tour Permits
Before you take your scouts out to any outing have the following sign your tour permit:

Tour permits are required by the BSA for all travel other than your normal monthly or weekly meeting place.
Tour permits can be signed at each monthly District Roundtable. This is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at First United Methodist Church in Whittier.

Nature
Walks at Firestone Scout Reservation
Nature Walks with Richard Trier, 562.696-7500, rtrier@yahoo.com. We'll watch, track, and listen to the birds and other animals of FSR, as well as identify the plants of the season, and explore their many uses by the natives and pioneers. We'll even cook up some greens and roots, and make wild teas, for those who are adventurous.

We meet, rain or shine, at the Trading Post, on the left, (opposite hillside "cemetery"), 1/4 mile or so from the FSR stone sign and ranger's home, at the entrance to Scout property. Bring binoculars, collapsible chair, deet spray, if you have them. If not we will have plenty of extras for you. FSR has a $3.00 day fee. Please call ahead of time, so we'll have enough on hand, but if you decide to come at the last minute, come anyway. We'd be glad to see you.
Our District Spring Camporee will be held at Firestone on April 18 - 20, 2008. This theme is Indiana Jones. This activity is open to all Webelos, Scouts and Ventures. You will not want to miss this one. We have lost of new activities as well as some of the standard ones. Download the information and begin to train your Scouts. The Seventh Annual Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner will be held on April 24 , 2008 honoring Rio Hondo District's 30 Eagle Scouts, class of 2007. Click below for more information.

Cub
Day Camp
Cub Day Camp - June 23-27, 2008. Register before May 21st (Roundtable) for the early bird discount. The theme this year is “Heroes, Heroes, Everywhere!” Camp is open to Cubs who have been Tigers, Wolfs or Webelo 1’s during this past school. (Cubs automatically advance to the next rank at camp.) Have fun, make new friends, and get a jump on your new rank’s achievements! Boy Scouts, don’t get left out of the fun! Join camp staff as Den Chiefs. Our District Fall Camporee will be held on October 17 - 19, 2008 at TBD, CA. This is the largest scout activity in this district and our theme is Scout Skills. Many Scouting opportunities will be available. Webelos Dens, Troops, Teams and Crews, make sure you participate in our Spring Camporee. Cubs are welcome for the day! Popcorn Sales
Could your unit use over $2,700? That is what one or our local units raised for their pack in just two months!! (Plus the Scouts earned some cool prizes) If you want to raise substantial funds to operate your unit, then don't miss the opportunity to sell popcorn in the fall. Sales begin in late August.
