Award of Merit
The District Award of Merit is a council award presented at the District level. It is the highest level of recognition available at the District level for adult Scouters. The Award of Merit is presented as an expression of appreciation and commendation for outstanding service to our youth. Recommendations for the award come from peers of the recipients. Recipients are selected by a district awards committee based on the documented services to youth in scouting and youth in our community. The past awardees represent the best of Rio Hondo District. Awards are presented without the recipients request or participation. The nomination is confidential.
STANDARDS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARD OF MERIT
The Award of Merit of the Boy Scouts of America is awarded to registered adult volunteers for outstanding service within the territory under the jurisdiction of the district or council.
Service Requirements: Normally at least five years as a registered adult volunteer and the individual should have rendered some service over and above the requirements of the registered positions.
The Awards Committee is currently interested in receiving nominations for the Award of Merit. Nominees should show leadership! The deadline for accepting nominees is January 18, 2012. Do you know of any take-charge type of adult who puts things together behind the curtain? Perhaps you may know of some volunteer whose work has gone unnoticed. There may be some volunteers who have fallen through the cracks and may have gone unnoticed through the past years. If there is someone you know who is deserving of this award, please contact Roger Reynolds at BoyScoutTroop461@gmail.com.
